Backup your Android

This method make a huge backup file of the application and system settings. I don' know if contactas are backup up and I am sure that sms are not backed-up. To backup your contacts and your sms use third-party programs. For contacts you can use your google account.

  1. Enable USB Debugging on your android

On most devices running Android 3.2 or older, you can find the option under Settings > Applications > Development. On Android 4.0 and newer, it's in Settings > Developer options.

Note: On Android 4.2 and newer, Developer options is hidden by default. To make it available, go to Settings > About phone and tap Build number seven times. Return to the previous screen to find Developer options.
  2. Install Android SDK. Small version is fine, you can ignore the adt-bundle. But you are missing fastboot and adb programs. You can install them later manually.
  3. I had permissions problems, give the permissions you prefer to your extracted Android SDK. (use a file explorer or the chmod / chown command)
  4. Go to android-sdk-linux/tools and run android sdkFrom the gui select to install Android SDK tools. After the installation you must have fastboot and adb programs to the folder platform-tools.
  5. Start the server
    ./adb kill-server ./adb start-server
  6. Should be ready for big time. ./adb backup -shared -all -f ./full.adb.backup ./adb pull /sdcard/ ./sdcard.adb.backup

Hey? The restore?

./adb restore YOUR-restore-FILE
