Kernel configs for IBM ThinkPad T20 and X40

With custom kernel you can gain twice the boot-up speed, gain some (tiny) extra ram, or you can learn for kernel internals. Use it at your own risk. You can also find some RealTime (RT) kernel configurations. The kernels should work on all distributions of the appropriate... era :)

My configs are somewhat minimal but functional. With little tweaking (add your hardware to the configs) you can use it for any computer (you have to know your hardware).

ThinkPad X60 linux kernel configs

config-3.12.53x61.bz2

32-bit kernel config for ThinkPad X61

config-4.10.14.bz2

Kernel config for X60, X61 (also suitable for X60/1 tablets). Almosts barebones, add function as you wish.

config-4.4.39x60ipt.bz2

64-bit kernel config for ThinkPad X61 (also for tablet). Tested with Slackware-14.2, 64-bit

ThinkPad X40 linux kernel configs

config-2.6.29-x4x_ssound_sata.bz2
Sata version, tested with Slackware-12.2.

config-2.6.29.5.rt21-x40ssound.bz2

config-2.6.31.5-x40ssound.bz2

config-2.6.31.5.rt18.bz2
Real time (RT) kernel configuration of the above..

config-2.6.32.1-x40desktop.bz2
Works with Slackware-12.2. Don't use KDE, bug with inotify\!

config-2.6.33.4.x40ssound.bz2
Works with Slackware-13.0. Delicious graphic driver with instant user switching.

config-2.6.33.7.2-rt30-x40.bz2
RT (Real time) kernel.

config-2.6.37.6-x40ssound.bz2
Working with Slackware-13.1.

config-3.12.38x40.bz2

Rock as solid kernel for ThinkPad X40. Tested with Slackware-14.1.

config-3.14.0x40-122l.bz2
Working with Slackware-14.1. Enabled zswap. Maybe you need to compile the video driver manually or try my version. Also optimized for Pentium-m. important: You also need a xorg.conf otherwise you have maximum 15-bit depth. This is the first kernel that seems to work properly with suspend to disk. Suspend to ram was always fine :-)

config-3.2.29x40e.bz2
Working with Slackware-14.0

config-3.2.29x40ssound.bz2
Working with Slackware-13.37

ThinkPad T20 linux kernel configs

config-2.6.23.13-t2x_krg_mus.bz2

config-2.6.25-t2x-krg-mus.bz2
For T2x (T20, T21, T22, possible T23) with IBM_acpi, Suspend, LatencyTOP, bluetooth. Only Thinkpad stuff and little extra hardware support. Tested with Slackware-12 GNU/Linux. Use it as a guide, I have disabled several devices for sake of space.

config-2.6.27.7-t2x-krg-latencytop-powertop.bz2

config-2.6.27.7-t2x-krg.bz2
With more hardware support to match my hardware :p. Works nicely with Slackware-12.2 GNU/Linux. Use it as a guide.

config-2.6.27.7-t2xssound-sata.bz2
"SATA" kernels from now-on... Tested with Slackware-12.2. For reasons I don't know my previous configs don't do well with jack. Fixed.

config-2.6.28.3-t2x_ssound_sata.bz2
Tested with Slackware-12.2.

config-2.6.32.1_t2xserver.bz2
Works with Slackware-12.2. Don't use KDE, bug with inotify\!

config-2.6.37.6-t20.bz2
I think KDE (slackware-13.37) does not work with the graphics driver because requests DRI. XFCE works fine.
